Amy Kincaid, Principal

Amy Kincaid is Founder and Principal of ChangeMatters, Benefit LLC, a social enterprise consultancy that works with entrepreneurs, executives, advisors, funders, and investors in both tax-exempt social enterprises and not-just-for-profit socially-responsible businesses. The first Benefit Company formed in the State of Maryland and in the United States, ChangeMatters provides planning, funding, training, social media, and philanthropy services, and is recognized as an organizer and educator in the movement to encourage “common good enterprises” and for-benefit companies.

Amy has raised well over $65 million for nonprofits at international, national, and local levels through grantwriting, earned revenue, individual giving and capital campaigns, and has presented hundreds of times on organizational planning, strategy, program design, resource development, benefit corporations, and social ventures. She has worked with startup and established organizations in Russia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, and Albania, and developed the grantmaking program for the first foundation in the former Soviet Union. She has directed development efforts for the International Research and Exchanges Board and in interim roles for First Nations Development Institute, Center for Women’s Business Research, Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and Bethesda Green. Previously, she published a national employment newspaper for community organizers and non-profit sector executives.

In 20 years career experience in the roles of grantmaker, lobbyist, publisher, executive director, development director, trainer, and advisor, Amy has developed special expertise in

• Tax exempt organizations, fundraising and resource development, management and governance consulting, local business, social enterprise and socially-responsible small business;
• The new Maryland Benefit Corporation and Benefit Company laws; and
• Adult learning, professional training, facilitation, enterprise coaching.

At heart, colleagues say she is a connector, problem solver, and empowerment freak. She is an exhibiting visual artist and curator of a local exhibit and performance space, and chairs of Pyramid Atlantic Art Center. Born and raised in Kansas City, she lives in Takoma Park, Maryland.
